If you are planning to use a DVBE supplier, DVBE second-tier sub, or if you are a DVBE subcontractor bidding the job; please notify Paul Martin, HMH 916-383-4825.  Due to contractual requirements we must include all DVBE certification documentation with our bid. It is of the utmost importance that we have received all DVBE documentation in advance (July 5th).

  Project Description:  
    Scope of Work: Major Components of Project Work consists of: demolition, hazardous materials abatement; renovation and installation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinklers systems; renovation of interior finishes, exterior envelope renovation and new curtain wall; roof mounted photo voltaic units, utility trenching, transformers, civil work and construction of new central utility plant and related work.

Site Work consists of demolition, grading, excavation, and fill earthwork, parking lot and street alterations, relocation of existing utilities and installation of new utilities, including, but not limited to, hydronic pipes between the Central Plant and existing facilities, site lighting, landscaping, fencing, and concrete walkways.

Interior Work consists of tenant improvements of 77,590 square fee of 6th floor office space and includes: asbestos abatement, ADA modifications, open office areas, hard walled office areas, automatic fire protection-suppression systems and a new HVAC system comprised of new ductwork, air handlers, heating/cooling coils, control system. VAV boxes, electrical preparation and connection for office furniture systems. The existing building elevators and escalators will be renovated and refurbished.

Exterior improvements consist of installation of a new structural steel supporting structure for new roof mounted photovoltaic, new roof and a window washing system. New exterior skin will require the demolition of the existing glass system and installation of new window system. A new steel framed entry tower addition connected to the existing building and supported on drilled pier foundation.

A 6,700 square foot concrete masonry unit central plant will contain three chillers, three boilers, and a cooling tower. Utility lines will be routed underground for approximately one city block to service the headquarters building.

The 545,000 square foot DMV Headquarters building houses approximately 3,700 occupants. Program functions include office activities in the basement through the 5th floor, loading dock at the ground floor, child care and outdoor play yard at ground floor, cafeteria and exterior dining at ground floor. The building levels basement through 5th floor and adjacent parking lots will remain fully occupied and operational for the duration of construction. The 77,590 square foot 6th floor will be vacant until completion of the interim milestone set forth in the contract. The State will occupy the 6th floor at the completion of the interim contract milestone which is prior to the completion date.
